The former Albanian Defensive and Central Midfielder Lorik Cana was appointed as the Grassroots ambassador for kids football in Albania. Throughout his whole football playing career, he played for Albania national football team and many football clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Sunderland, Galatasaray, Lazio, FC Nantes and captained Olympique de Marseille.
From his first appearance to retirement, he played 93 football matches for the Albania national football team, creating new records in the times of appearances for Albania national football team more than the most capped footballer. Although he was taken as a Defensive and Central Midfielder, he was switched to Center-back in latter period. Having played in top divisions in France, England, Italy and Turkey, Lorik Cana was taken as the representative of both Paris Saint-Germain and Olypique De Marseille in the beginning of the football playing career. After his spell in Paris Saint-Germain and Olypique De Marseille, he transferred to Sunderland for £5 million on a four-year deal. Shortly after joining in Sunderland, he was appointed as the captain of the football team, leaving him the responsibility of a captain without formal declaration. In 2009, he was appointed as the captain of Sunderland officially.
Cana signed for Galatasaray for a €4.5 million transfer fee in July 2010, with about €2 million profits per season in average and add-ons. For the sake of his back injury, he did not make many contributions to the club, although he was still a favorite footballer for many football fans.
